The district’s Henderson Public Health Center also offers no-cost STI express testing on Tuesdays. Because walk-ins stop when the clinic hits capacity, arrive early. Rapid HIV results come back during the visit; lab results for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis take several days. This is the best choice if cost is the main concern or you need PEP after a high-risk HIV exposure.

Urgent care in Las Vegas

Urgent care centers cluster along the Strip corridor, in Summerlin, and in Henderson, and most offer STD testing with an exam. Expect a wait, a visit fee of $150 or more without insurance plus lab charges, and results in 2 to 5 days. Some run a rapid HIV test on site. Urgent care makes sense if you have symptoms and want treatment before results come back.

Notes for visitors

• No residency requirement for private testing. Order online, walk in, fly home, and read results in your account.
• Timing: most exposures during a trip will not be detectable before you leave. Chlamydia and gonorrhea need 1 to 2 weeks, HIV 18 to 45 days for a lab test, syphilis 3 to 6 weeks. Order now and test at home at the right time if the exposure was recent.
• PEP: if you had a high-risk HIV exposure within the last 72 hours, the health district clinic or an emergency room can start PEP. Do not wait for a test.

When to test

Test at 2 weeks for chlamydia and gonorrhea, 6 weeks for HIV and syphilis, and 12 weeks for a conclusive herpes antibody result. If you have symptoms, test immediately and retest after the window.

Which tests to order
